Situated at 1000 meter high in Val de Morteau, the town of Villers le Lac is one of the most important touristic sites.

Its lake formed by the river Doubs becomes each winter the biggest European natural ice rink.

In summer, it becomes a particular assets for water sports, in which boats give you the possibility to discover its meanders overhung by magnificent limestone cliffs.

 

At the end of the lake, you will also have the chance to admire its wonderful waterfall named Saut du Doubs. This site is the most visited in Franche-Comté.

 


This region is known for its watch-making industry including numerous museums about watch, clock from the past to nowadays. It has also its assets about gastronomy.

You will have the possibility to taste some regional cheese as Comté.

Don’t forget its prestigious “Saucisse de Morteau”, Ham and others salt meats, burned slowly in the specific “ferme à tuyé”, a big chimney.

 

Dominated at the 19th century by its mountains agriculture and forestry development, the region shows in its area the Cow “Montbéliarde” and the horse “Comtois”.

Earth of invasion, rich of history more than 10 centuries, and this beautiful region welcome you in the summer through paths and rivers but also in winter through cross-country tracks
