The region

Villers-le-Lac is located in the Jura mountains, at an altitude of 1000 m, a few kilometres from the Swiss border and the Saut du Doubs national site, with its impetuous 27 m waterfall, in an environment that is ideal for hiking and sports at all levels and in all seasons. Numerous tourist attractions nearby.

The Jura mountains

In winter, the lake formed by the Doubs becomes Europe’s largest natural ice rink.

In summer, it becomes a center of interest for water sports, with fly-boats taking you through its meandering waters, overlooked by magnificent limestone cliffs. And let’s not forget the impressive Saut du Doubs waterfall at the end of the lake, 27 m high and the most visited natural site in Franche-Comté.

The region is also rich in discoveries: museums, natural sites, artisans, and the Swiss cities of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Neuchâtel.

Watchmaking country

A country renowned for its watchmaking industry, with numerous museums showcasing watches and clocks from the past to the present day, it also has its strengths in gastronomy. You can sample Comté and many other cheeses.

Let’s not forget our prestigious“Saucisse de Morteau“, ham and other cured meats, slowly smoked in the Tuyé farms, with their large pyramid-shaped chimneys.

Dominated in the 19th century by mountain farming and forestry, the region can be discovered at the turn of an undergrowth where you’ll meet the Montbéliarde cow and the Comtois horse.
